Text description provided by the architects. The Landscape

One of the main ideas of the project by SCOB Arquitectura i Paisatge was to integrate the landscape of the new buildings and the port area of the marina into the urban environment of Paseo de Borbón and the España and Pescadores docks. The proposal creates a system able to find an architectural solution not only for the buildings but also for all the landscape elements involved (street furniture, small stores, signage, etc.), establishing a close relationship between them. We seek a unifying approach throughout the project in order to get an image of continuity. The materials and colors used are chosen from the idea of a common language and a willingness to integrate into the environment.

The buildings are covered by a lattice that is specially designed for this project named OO, which provides protection against solar radiation, strong winds and the salty environment. The soft, rounded shapes give warmth and lightness to the buildings. The lattice design reminds of the awnings raised by fishermen using a net to protect from sunlight during the summer months.

Port Services Building (The Gallery)

This building houses the offices of the management companies operating in the marina, a small gym and multipurpose and crew rooms. It is a two-storey building located on a platform above the water, taking advantage of an area that is not suitable for mooring. The structure is covered with a white lattice, like the other building of the sports marina. The lattice has more presence in the south facade, with more solar radiation, and less on the north side, coinciding with city views.

The design aims to highlight the idea of continuity outward, working with an approach that evokes the inside of a ship. The space distribution strategy is based on the grouping of the closed areas that have the most private activities, such as offices and services. The interstitial space is available for transit and public use, seeking a closer relationship and contact with the outside environment.

On the ground floor there is a reception, administrative offices, a gym and a spa, bathrooms, changing rooms, laundry facilities, and crew room. On the first floor there are offices, meeting rooms, a multipurpose room and office area.

Entrance Building (OneOcean Club)

The building houses the private club for users of the marina, OneOcean Club, which features a restaurant and BlueWave cocktail area organized in two structures connected by a lattice.

It is located on the lower level, from where the roof is visible. The roof is designed as a fifth facade, from which the lattice unfolds, generating different spaces and terraces. The only enclosed areas of the building are the kitchen, facilities and storage areas. The other areas are open to the sea and the city.
